2012 Recommendations

You know that moment where an idea pops into your head and you get a crazy desire to do A, B, C, Y or all of the above? You know that moment where an idea pops into your head and you get a crazy desire to do A, B, C, Y or all of the above?

That happens to me on a daily basis.
Yet nothing quite like this desire.

As an event organiser, it’s always been my dream to be part of an event that’s major, worldwide, and life changing. What’s more major than an event that’s watched by millions around the world?

Enter stage: London 2012 Olympics.

Let’s face it, any event you’ve ever been to has not been tangible. There’s no way whatsoever (unless you vandalise – please don’t) that you can take a piece of that event with you. So it’s my honest belief that regardless of the size of your event, every single one should be an experience.

So my aim, no matter the role, is to help the organisers create not just “events” but experiences.

But I need your help.

Introducing the project within a project – The 2012 recommendations project for what will be a stellar year!

The Goal:

To get 2012 recommendations from anyone and everyone to help my job application stand out and be successful.

How You Can Help:

If you think I’ve got the stamina, the experience and the attitude to deserve a role at the London 2012 Olympics then listen up!

Leave a short recommendation for the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games.

It can be as simple as:

“Give this girl a job!”

or

“Mariella has what it takes for the job”

or

“Please give Mariella a job so she can stop spamming the airwaves”

or

“Mariella for President” … no?

or

Write whatever you like.

The Return:

The whatever it takes project – an honest, raw and (hopefully) entertaining view of the journey to get there. Updated as regularly as wireless internet is available.

AND

You go in my mum’s good books

AND

If you’re comfortable with me knowing where you live (I’ll be on the other side of the world, remember) a handwritten postcard from my travels around Europe.

But not a free piglet.
I’m not allowed to offer free piglets anymore, the RSPCA said so.

It’s over to you now, please help me get to 2012 by leaving a recommendation in the comments below.

Be honest, be open and I’ll get the pen ready.

In advance, thanks.
You’ll be the first to know how I go… after my mum, of course.

Mariella is a bright, vivacious, driven young woman with the dedication to her field and the naturally winning personality required to succeed in a key role in a world-class event.

Not only is she good at what she does, but she takes a great deal of pleasure in it, and her enthusiasm is infectious. She would be an asset to any organisation, and the London Organising Committee would be mad not to take advantage of her expertise and passion.

Mariella manages to organise an event for 100 people with live music and the venue owners (her parents) don’t even know it happened!!

Imagine what she can do when she has the backing of the venue!! How could you not want her on your team?!!

In the brief time that I have known Mariella (albeit via the internet) it has been impossible not be pick up on how passionate and driven she is. whether it be finding the perfect microbrew or telling the world how awesome Melbourne is, Mariella follows her passion to the very limit with moxy and determination. I know that if I were to be organising an event (particularly one as monolithic as the Olympic Games) Mariella would be the first person I called (tweeted) to help make it all happen, and I recommend you do the same.

Mariella will not only bring the sunshine to the greyest of London days but with her contagious enthusiasm, cheerfulness and energy she’ll bring a smile to everyone around her. She is always able to find that something in the mundane and make you explore places you never knew existed that were right outside your front door. Mariella makes wonderful things happen on a daily basis.

A backyard party, a conference for hundreds, a lunch for the girls or an event for thousands – You name it, big or small, this girl can organise it.

You won’t find anybody with more initiative, passion or determination to get the job done from inception to fruition. And all whilst never losing that smile.

Save the piglets. Hire Mariella. You won’t regret it.

Mariella has to be one of the most innovative people I have come across, she’s always thinking and doing.

I don’t know her in any other capacity than through Twitter (yet!) but through this platform I know she has exemplary communication skills, in fact, if I am not mistaken she is multi-lingual…

I’ve never known her to be anything other than smiley and cheerful, and I can’t imagine anyone better suited to being a part of such a huge event!

I have known Mariella for the past 18 months & in that time have had the opportunity to see her demonstrate all the skills one would need at the Olympics in 2012.

She’s a consummate connector and has put me in contact with a number of people since knowing her.

She’s got a can-do attitude and no task is too big or too small for her.

Mariella is also friendly, professional and always willing to lend a hand or suggest a solution.

Finally, she’s creative, full of ideas and passionate to boot.

You’d be crazy not to have her as part of your team!

I have had the pleasure of working for Mariella on many occasions. As well as being an absolute pleasure to deal with, she has always maintained a professionalism and clarity of focus on every project, providing clear briefs of requirements and prompt feedback and approvals. She always has a smile on her face and a sunny disposition that lights up any office environment. Her dedication and enthusiasm for life is inspiring and I would highly recommend Mariella for a position with the Olympics that requires trust, creativity, dependability and flawless professionalism.

Mariella is THE lady you go to when you want a professional to organise and host your event. She is the life and soul of a party. She inspires and motivates us all. She should be paid 25x more than we do. We all love Mariella and we know you will too.

    Give Mariella a job!

Don’t be fooled by the fun, carefree, and self-deprecating image she projects to the world. Because beneath that surface lies someone who has an extraordinarily sharp mind for organisation and business. We are friends who operate in different industries, but we talk about the business world. And she is someone who is guided by the facts of a situation, and will make the decisions that will benefit the business.

In a world where far too many people take the soft option of using e-mail or SMS to contact others, she is someone who has no fear of picking up the phone or meeting someone face to face to fix problems.

So, give her a job. It will be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make.

Mariella has been an amazing source of information relating to the places to go, the things to see and most importantly where to eat and entertain clients and friends. She has at short notice organised a dinner for some important international clients of mine.. They were impressed, I had an amazing time and they couldn’t believe mariella had the ability to contact the chef directly to ensure their desire to “eat great Australian meat” was met. She is a god send!

I’ve known Mariella for quite some time now. I know that she can be a stubborn feisty girl, who won’t let go of something once it is in her head. I won’t deliberate on how much of a challenge that can be when you are friends with her, BUT I do know that this is exactly what makes her a perfect event organisor. She will give her all to make an event a succes and won’t stop until it is exactly like she wanted it to be.

If you look at her motivation, at this page she set up just because she wants this job so bad, you know that this is the woman you need. Really.

Even though I am tempted to say something bad about her, because I know she will put her heart into organising events leaving her with less time to give to her friends. But I won’t be selfish: Mariella is the best. No doubt about it.

Mariella would be an asset to any organisation and I have no hesitation in providing a recommendation for her.

Her skill sets are broad, but her ability to net-work, plan, coordinate, and wield social media as a tool to get things done is second to none.

Good luck Mariella, your enthusiasm, hard-working mindset and brilliant personality will take you places.

(And hopefully those places will be a London Olympics office!)

I couldn’t imagine anyone more capable of organizing large, complex events than Mariella. Her friendly nature endears her to guests, her can-do attitude thrills any over-burdened boss. A team player comfortable with all sorts of situations. Communication skills excellent, passion self-evident. Hire her – you’ll only regret when the event is over that she’s not working with you any more.
